We begin with diagnosis. Slipping, delayed engagement, harsh shifts, loss of gears, leaks, or warning lights can have mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical causes. We determine the cause before recommending repair.
Do you rebuild transmissions in-house?
Yes. Phinney Automotive performs complete transmission rebuilds and installation.
Can I bring you a transmission I removed myself?
Yes. We offer carry-out and bench-built transmission rebuilding for customers who handle removal and installation.
Warranty and Complete Auto RepairWhat warranty comes with a rebuilt transmission?
A transmission rebuilt and installed by Phinney Automotive includes a 3-year warranty on the rebuilt transmission itself. Labor is warrantied for the first 60 days on covered repairs. Carry-out and bench-built transmissions include a 1-year warranty on the rebuilt transmission; removal and installation labor are not included.
Do you perform repairs other than transmissions?
Yes. We are a complete auto repair shop offering A/C diagnosis and repair, custom engine tuning, towing, diagnostics, brakes, maintenance, electrical repair, and general mechanical repair.
